Job description
At Bulk, we build and operate the sustainable digital infrastructure underneath the growth in AI, powered by 100% renewable energy. Bulk Fiber Networks owns more than 10,000 km of subsea and terrestrial fiber, serving hyperscalers, carriers and public entities with uncompromising standards for uptime and security. We are now hiring an Operations Manager to optimize the performance of that network.
Reporting to our SVP Fiber Networks, you will be a member of a lean Fiber Networks Team, working alongside specialists who know the network in depth. This is a role built to grow. You start hands-on, and the scope expands toward senior ownership of fiber operations as you establish yourself, in an industry where uptime and security requirements keep tightening.
We are more interested in what you can grow into than in a perfect match on paper, so the role will be shaped around the right person.
What you'll do
As our Operations Manager , your key responsibilities will include: Develop and maintain Bulk's fiber infrastructure, telehousing facilities and support systems: Continuously improve maintenance plans, operating procedures, testing regimes, and risk controls for the fiber network and telehousing assets. Ensure data quality, maintaining asset documentation and lifecycle records.
Prepare requirements specifications and manage procurement and vendors for technical and operational equipment and services. NOC support and development: Directly support any operational issues, including critical equipment, and event support. Lead incident management during fault situations together with our NOC, persisting until resolution while maintaining proactive, clear communication with customers throughout the troubleshooting process.
Customer technical support: Support with technical assessments in customer dialogues. Execute customer deliverables and commissioning requirements. Technical and operational support in new-build projects: Incorporate operational requirements into engineering reviews, network planning, and new builds. Who are you? You are pragmatic, adaptable, and driven by a continuous improvement mindset.
You work in a structured and process-oriented way, and you bring that discipline into an environment that is growing fast. You build strong relationships with the external partners our operations depend on. You enjoy hands-on work, learning alongside seasoned colleagues, and taking end-to-end ownership. You do not need to have done all of this before.
You need the technical foundation, the judgment to ask the right questions, and the drive to take the function further than it is today. What you bring: 5+ years of relevant professional experience in telecom. Higher education in engineering. A technical foundation that lets you understand, question and challenge how telecom infrastructure is operated.
A structured, process-oriented approach to procedures, documentation and operational discipline. Strong solution orientation and collaboration skills across internal and external stakeholders. Fluency and excellent communication skills in both Norwegian and English. Good to have: Hands-on experience with fiber infrastructure, transmission technologies and support systems.
Experience from, or working closely with, a Network Operations Center. Experience developing maintenance plans, operating procedures and testing regimes for optical fiber systems and telehousing. We welcome applicants who do not fit every requirement! The role is deliberately built so the right person can grow their scope and seniority over time rather than stepping into a fixed box.
Why join us? Join a small, high-ownership team at the point where digital infrastructure meets the growth in AI. You will work directly at the intersection of operations, vendor management, and mission-critical infrastructure, in a function where the professional standard is being raised and you have real influence over how it takes shape.
What we offer
A dynamic, growth-oriented workplace with a strong sustainability focus. Comprehensive insurance and annual health check. Additional time off during Easter and Christmas. Monthly contribution to home internet costs and sustainable commuting. Annual wellness allowance to support an active lifestyle. Fully paid parental leave.
Take the next step in your career and join us as we build the future of digital infrastructure in Norway and beyond! Next steps We review applicants continuously, and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
