Job description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs assessment of injury or condition and takes appropriate follow up steps to ensure safe and proper care Prescribes routine, preventive and corrective exercises to strengthen muscles, increase balance and improve flexibility Provide practice, game/event coverage for assigned area Respond to medical emergencies and provide assessment, stabilization and first aid Make recommendations for athletic participation and return to sport guidelines Complete accurate documentation of assessment and referrals Refer athletes to physician for continued care per protocol Perform manual techniques and utilize taping and bracing to relieve symptoms and improve function Collaborate with sports medicine providers, physicians and other allied health professionals May work in a clinic setting with physician or under the direction of a physical therapist EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Graduate of an accredited school of Athletic Training CERTIFICATION/ LICENSURE Licensed as an athletic trainer in WI, IL or both if required CPR/BLS required within 30 days of hire BOC certification Maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested Have/maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth’s HR-01-Fleet Safety policy LEVEL OF SUPERVISION Some independent judgement is required, based upon scope of practice and within professional standards.
