Responsibilities
The Associate Athletic Trainer will be working in our walk-in clinic. The incumbent is responsible for implementing medically prescribed physical therapy under the supervision of the licensed Physical Therapist. Individuals in this role will administer a work conditioning program and focus on return-to-work programs under the direction of a Physical Therapist.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare, implement, and administer a work conditioning program under the guidance of a supervising PT to assist the patient to return to work. Follow established procedures and observing safety precautions in the application and use of heat, cold, light, water, sounds and iontophoresis. Carry out positioning, exercise, and treatment with special equipment.
Train patients in exercise, ambulation, and activities of daily living. Observe and report patient responses to treatment to PT and ensure accurate and timely documentation is complete and cosigned by PT. Serve as an assistant to the PT when the PT performance tests, evaluations, and complex treatment procedures. Responsible for floating in the PT department, primarily in the exercise equipment area, assisting patients on/off equipment in a safe manner.
Follow exercise flowsheet for the patient and consult with PT/PTA for any changes or modifications (all progressions/regressions of patients will be determined by the supervising PT/PTA). Assist PT leadership with maintenance of exercise and safety equipment. Care for braces, prostheses, bandages, and other actual assistive devices.
Maintain supplies and equipment and assist with clerical activities as needed. Places a high priority on and maintains strict confidentiality in all situations. Attends and participates in required organizational meetings and committees as requested. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all company policies and procedures.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training required. Must be a licensed Athletic Training in the state of Indiana. Two to three years’ experience in a clinic or physical therapy setting required. Must maintain current BLS certification. Must have adequate knowledge and skill to apply the principles of quality Physical Therapy care and motivation to augment professional knowledge.
Must exercise consistent, sound, professional judgment. Excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills required. orthopedic experience preferred casting/splinting experience preferred Physical Requirements : Physical requirements for the position include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and/or feel objects.
Must be able to climb, pull, push, squat and/or kneel. Maximum unassisted lift up to 50 lbs. Average lift 25-50 lbs. USD $21.00/Hr. USD $27.00/Hr.
