The Specialist, Internal Medicine is responsible for providing comprehensive, evidence-based medical care to adult patients across inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care settings. The role involves the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions while ensuring continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.

The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic, patient-centered care in alignment with Amana Healthcare's clinical standards.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions in adult patients. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and monitor clinical progress. Manage patients with complex chronic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disorders, and other internal medicine conditions.

Provide specialized medical care for patients in rehabilitation, long-term care, and post-acute care settings. Coordinate care with specialists, allied health professionals, nursing teams, and rehabilitation staff to ensure seamless patient management. Review and interpret laboratory investigations, imaging studies, and other diagnostic tests.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to individualized patient care plans. Provide preventative healthcare recommendations and patient education to promote overall wellbeing. Respond to medical emergencies and acute clinical deteriorations as required. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives. Participate in clinical governance, audits, peer review activities, and continuous professional development.

Qualifications

Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB, MD, or equivalent) from an accredited institution. Completion of a recognized residency training program in Internal Medicine. Specialist qualification recognized by the Department of Health (DOH), Abu Dhabi. Eligibility for or possession of a valid DOH License as Specialist Internal Medicine.

Minimum of 3–5 years of post-specialization experience in Internal Medicine. Strong experience in managing complex medical conditions and chronic disease management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to evidence-based medicine and patient-centered care.
