Job description
We are looking for a highly motivated Energy Simulation Developer to join our BuildingsAI team and contribute to the development of next-generation building energy modeling and simulation applications. The role focuses on extending and integrating open-source building simulation tools such as Energy. Plus, Open. Studio, Modelica, and Urban.
Opt into an AI-driven platform for advanced building performance analysis and optimization. The ideal candidate should have strong fundamentals in thermal sciences and building energy systems, along with programming and simulation experience. Candidates with an M.Tech/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Science, or related fields are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Develop custom Open. Studio Measures and workflows for advanced building energy simulation applications Contribute to Open. Studio and related open-source projects by implementing new features and enhancements Support the Product Development (PD) team in designing scalable simulation workflows for the BuildingsAI platform Work closely with the AI/ML team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in building physics, HVAC systems, and energy modeling Mentor application engineers and junior developers on building simulation tools and best practices Integrate simulation and analysis tools such as: Energy.
Plus Modelica Urban. Opt Other open-source energy modeling frameworks Develop workflows that provide a competitive edge over conventional building simulation software vendors Participate in research and development activities involving modeling, simulation, optimization, and controls for buildings and community energy systems.
Requirements
Required Qualifications M.Tech/MS (preferred) in: Mechanical Engineering Architectural Engineering Building Science Energy Engineering or related disciplines Strong background in: Fluid Mechanics Heat Transfer Thermodynamics Building Energy Systems Community Energy Systems Control Systems Programming experience in one or more of the following: Python Ruby C/C++ Matlab Modelica Experience with engineering simulation software such as: Energy.
Plus Open. Studio TRNSYS FLUENT Modelica-based tools Good English verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies and research areas Preferred Qualifications: Previous research experience in modeling and simulation Experience contributing to open-source software projects Peer-reviewed publications or demonstrated research outcomes Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows Experience with building controls, optimization, or co-simulation frameworks Exposure to cloud/HPC workflows for simulation automation is a plus What We Are Looking For We are seeking candidates who are passionate about building performance simulation, open-source development, and applying AI to real-world energy and sustainability challenges.
