About the Role
Join Reboot Monkey as a Freelance Data Center Technician in London, United Kingdom. This is an onsite, dispatch-based contract opportunity supporting critical data center infrastructure for Reboot Monkey clients. Technicians will be considered for assignments in or near London, depending on client requirements and proximity to the data center.
Contract & Work Arrangement Freelance/contract, hourly, on-demand engagement Assignments and schedules depend on client demand. Technicians are paid for the actual hours worked on each assignment. There is no guaranteed 8-hour workday or fixed number of hours per week. Some dispatches may last only a few hours, while others may require longer onsite support.
Assignments may take place during regular hours, nights, weekends, or on short notice, depending on client requirements. Technicians must be comfortable working independently onsite with minimal supervision. This opportunity is suited to technicians looking for flexible, on-demand contract work rather than traditional full-time employment.

Key Responsibilities
Perform onsite data center support based on assigned dispatches and client requirements. Install, rack, stack, de-rack, relocate, and decommission servers and other data center equipment. Perform hardware installations, replacements, break/fix, and migrations. Execute structured cabling, including copper and fiber optic cabling.
Perform cross-connects, patch panel work, labeling, and cable management. Work with SFPs, transceivers, and other connectivity components as required. Troubleshoot server hardware and connectivity issues. Perform power cycling and other physical data center tasks. Follow MOPs, SOPs, safety procedures, and client requirements.
Document completed work with photos, ticket updates, and detailed notes. Coordinate with remote NOC, network, operations, and client teams. Escalate issues appropriately when they fall outside the assigned scope. 3+ years data center operations experience Expert cabling skills (Cat6/6a, OM3/OM4/OS2 fiber) Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Experience with rack and stack operations Understanding of power distribution and UPS systems Excellent documentation and communication skills Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in demanding environments Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, CDCE) - preferred Vendor certifications (Dell, HPE, Cisco) - preferred Network certifications (CCNA, JNCIA) - preferred Experience with DCIM platforms - preferred Knowledge of ITIL practices - preferred
