Position Summary

Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community is seeking an experienced and collaborative Vice President of Health Services to provide strategic and operational leadership across Deerfield’s continuum of health services. This position is responsible for quality of care, resident experience, regulatory compliance, workforce leadership, financial stewardship, and the continued development of services that respond to residents’ evolving needs.

The Vice President oversees skilled nursing, assisted living, and related social work and activities services. The role also coordinates contracted clinical services, supports safe transitions between levels of care, and helps lead future planning for short-stay services and memory support.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for Deerfield’s health services and contribute to organization-wide planning, decision-making, and future growth. Develop and implement health services goals, performance measures, staffing plans, and improvement priorities. Oversee skilled nursing and assisted living operations through designated department leaders.

Promote coordinated, resident-centered care and safe transitions across Deerfield’s continuum of services. Monitor quality outcomes, resident experience, staffing, operational risk, regulatory compliance, and financial performance. Maintain survey readiness and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.

Protect resident rights, dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and quality of life. Lead quality assurance, quality improvement, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and risk-management efforts. Oversee relationships with contracted therapy, hospice, phlebotomy, dental, physician, and specialty-service providers.

Develop and monitor departmental budgets, staffing resources, supplies, and contracted services. Coach and develop department leaders while supporting recruitment, retention, succession planning, performance management, and staff development. Partner with residents, families, employees, providers, government agencies, and other community stakeholders.

Support the planning and implementation of approved service expansions, including short-stay care and memory support. Provide strategic leadership for Deerfield’s expansion by preparing health services, staffing, and care operations to support the community’s continued growth and evolving resident needs.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications Current North Carolina Nursing Home Administrator license in good standing. Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Services Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years in progressive experience in Healthcare administration, senior living, long-term care, or related health services.

Minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience involving multidisciplinary services, staff leadership, budgets, and operational performance. Strong communication, organizational, decision-making, and relationship-building skills Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in healthcare administration, Health Services Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience in a continuing care retirement community or Life Plan Community. E xperience with service expansion, organizational change, leadership development, and contracted clinical services. Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
