Job description
The Hotel Houseperson supports the housekeeping department by maintaining cleanliness and organization in guest rooms, hallways, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. The Houseperson assists Housekeepers with room preparation, linen distribution, trash removal, and other housekeeping-related duties to ensure a clean and comfortable environment for guests.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver clean linens, towels, and housekeeping supplies to guest rooms. Collect and transport dirty linens, towels, and trash. Assist Housekeepers with cleaning and preparing guest rooms. Maintain cleanliness of hallways, elevators, corridors, stairways, and other common areas. Restock housekeeping carts, supply rooms, and linen closets.
Move furniture, mattresses, rollaway beds, and other hotel equipment as needed. Respond promptly to housekeeping requests from guests and hotel staff. Report maintenance issues, damaged items, or safety hazards to the appropriate department. Assist with deep-cleaning projects and special housekeeping assignments. Follow hotel safety, sanitation, and guest-service standards.
Perform other duties assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager.
Requirements
Previous hotel or housekeeping experience is preferred but may not be required. Ability to perform physical work for extended periods. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry housekeeping supplies and equipment. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
Strong attention to cleanliness and detail. Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings, and/or overnight shifts . Ability to follow hotel procedures and safety guidelines. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not always required. Legal authorization to work in the United States .
Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift and carry housekeeping supplies and equipment, typically up to 50 lbs. , depending on hotel requirements. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a hotel, resort, housekeeping, janitorial, or similar environment. Familiarity with hotel housekeeping procedures. Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety practices. Customer-service-oriented attitude.
