Primary Role The Marine Container Transportation (MCT) Advisor is responsible for providing oversight and leadership in marine container transportation in Asia Pacific region.

This role ensures the safety, compliance, and operational excellence of shipping lines, isotanks operators, global freight forwarders, and ports. Acting as the principal liaison for MCT enquiries, the advisor leads and/or support cross-functional advisory efforts, manages third-party service providers, and drives continuous improvement in processes, cost efficiency, and service quality.

Additionally, the advisor fosters strong customer and external partner relationships, ensures contractual and regulatory compliance, and supports major initiatives and strategic business decisions.

Responsibilities

Oversee shipping lines, isotank operators, freight forwarders, and ports to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations. MCT Business Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for MCT matters, supporting business lines with operational guidance and issue resolution. Operational Advisory & Governance: Support cross-functional initiatives, provide expertise to the MCT Operations Hub, and strengthen operational standards and exception management.

Performance & Supplier Management: Act as the escalation point for the MCT Operations Hub and manage third-party service provider performance. Process & Cost Optimization: Drive continuous improvements in efficiency, service quality, and cost competitiveness. Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Support customer and stakeholder engagement to enhance service delivery and commercial outcomes.

Project & Initiative Leadership: Lead or support strategic projects and initiatives aligned with business objectives. Global Best Practice Alignment: Participate in global MCT forums to share knowledge and implement best practices. Business Decision Support: Provide operational insights and recommendations to support business planning and decision-making.

External Partnership Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key logistics and port partners. Contract & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, trade regulations, and company requirements. Special Assignments: Support strategic initiatives, special projects, and other management-directed responsibilities.

Qualifications

At least 8 years of relevant industry experience. Experience in marine container transportation, logistics, procurement or a related field, with some understanding of industry standards and best practices is a plus. Knowledge of safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and operational standards within the shipping industry are a plus Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities, with experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations. Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with customers and key external partners, including shipping lines, isotanks operators, global freight forwarders or ports. Experience in driving process improvements, cost efficiency, and service quality through innovative strategies and solutions.

Some knowledge of trade regulations and compliance requirements, with the ability to ensure organizational adherence is preferred, but not a must. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle escalations and manage exceptions effectively. Experience in working within a global network, with the ability to align and share best practices across different regions.

A degree in logistics, supply chain management, maritime studies, or a related field is preferred, but not a must. Relevant professional certifications (e.g. Certified Supply Chain Professional, Certified Maritime Logistics Professional) are a plus. Your Benefits An Exxon.
