City/State: Nyack, New York Department: Emergency Department_2 Work Shift: Evening Work Days: EVENINGS VARY, PER DIEM Scheduled Hours: 12 PM-12:30 AM Scheduled Daily Hours: 11.5 HOURS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Hourly Rate/Range: $36 per hour For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.
Job Summary
The Emergency Department (ED) Medic has specific responsibilities to provide care to all patients in the ED. Job duties are carried out in collaboration with, and at the direction of the ED RN according to hospital Policy and Procedure.
Essential Functions
*Demonstrates the required job specific technical professional knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Under the direction of the RN performs and documents IV insertion, IO Insertion, oxygen administration, IV fluid administration, perform EKG’s with rhythm interpretation, as well as blood draws and point of care testing when necessary.
- Responds to codes, traumas, emergencies and assists with resuscitations, under the direction of the RN and / or provider
- Assist with transporting patients to other areas of the hospital who require cardiac monitoring.
- Under the direction of the RN assists with triage and patient placement. This includes collecting data, documenting observations, vital signs, heights and weights. Reports abnormalities and changes promptly to RN
- Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides comfort measures meeting the physiological needs of the patient (nutrition, hygiene, turning, positioning, ROM, skin care, while adhering to hospital safety regulations, environment of care risk management and infection control policies. - Demonstrates the ability to acknowledge customer concerns and takes corrective action.
- Demonstrates compliance with identified customer service behaviors.
- Provides escort to customers when necessary. PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT:
- Participates in Department/Hospital-wide activities which improve processes and/or outcomes.
- Utilizes resources to maintain and improve self development and knowledge.
- Complies with licensure and/or certification requirements.
- Participates in annual competency assessment. BUDGET:
- Demonstrates fiscally prudent use of equipment and supplies.
- Utilizes charge process for supplies/equipment. PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS:
- Completes projects/assignments within projected time frames and expectations.
- Participates in committees and task forces as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned within classification.
- Assists with the orientation process for new hires. Provide immediate medical treatment to patients in emergency situations Administer medications and perform necessary procedures during emergency care Monitor patient conditions and vital signs during treatment Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to stabilize patients Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient cases Qualifications High School Required or GED Required 1 year Medic experience preferred Preferred BLS Basic Life Support

- American Heart Association Required PARAMEDIC CERTIFICATION
