Position Overview
Are you a relationship-driven business development leader who thrives on building strategic partnerships and driving growth at a national level? UES is seeking a Director, National Retail & Chain Growth to expand and strengthen relationships with some of the country's most recognized retail, restaurant, convenience, grocery, and multi-location brands.
You'll play a key role in growing strategic client relationships, expanding UES's presence across national accounts, and creating opportunities that drive long-term business growth If you're energized by winning new business, expanding client relationships, and influencing growth on a national scale, this is an opportunity to help shape the future of UES's retail and national accounts business.
You'll have the autonomy to build meaningful partnerships with some of the country's most recognizable brands while driving growth across the organization. This opportunity is open to candidates located near any UES office across the United States.
Responsibilities
Lead strategic business development efforts across key markets while expanding opportunities in environmental engineering, geotechnical services, construction support, and infrastructure consulting. Build relationships with executives, developers, construction leaders, and other key stakeholders within national retail and chain organizations.
Identify opportunities to expand UES services, geographic reach, and market share across existing and prospective accounts. Partner with operational, technical, and business leaders to deliver a coordinated experience for national clients. Represent UES at client meetings, industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to strengthen relationships and uncover new business opportunities.
Monitor market trends and industry activity to help shape growth strategies and support informed business decisions. Develop account growth strategies that drive revenue and strengthen UES's position as a trusted national partner. #LI-CM1 Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of progressive business development experience, preferably in the A/E/C, environmental consulting, or infrastructure industry. Proven track record of building client relationships and securing contracts with public agencies, private sector clients, or utility/infrastructure owners. Deep understanding of the sales cycle for professional services, including pre-positioning, capture planning, and proposal development.
Strong business acumen with the ability to understand technical services and translate them into client-focused solutions. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Experience with CRM platforms and business development reporting tools. Ability to travel regularly to client sites, industry events, and company offices across the region or country.
Preferred Qualifications
Existing relationships with national retail, restaurant, convenience, grocery, automotive, pharmacy, or other multi-location organizations. Experience working with corporate real estate, construction, development, facilities, engineering, or procurement teams. Experience selling engineering, environmental, testing, inspection, or related consulting services.
Familiarity with preferred-provider programs, master service agreements, and enterprise procurement processes. Experience working with developers, architects, engineers, program managers, or general contractors supporting national retail clients. Travel Requirements This position requires approximately 30% to 50% travel to support client engagements, business development activities, industry events, and strategic account growth initiatives.
Travel may be scheduled or occur on short notice and can include visits to client locations, project sites, field operations, and UES offices throughout the United States Physical Demands & Work Environment This position involves a combination of office, remote, and field-based work, including visits to client and project sites.
