Job Title: Junior IT Officer Employment Terms: Contract Availability: Immediately Location: Nairobi JOB PURPOSE Our client, a leading organization in the oil and gas sector based in Nairobi, seeks to onboard a Junior IT Officer to provide technical and operational support by assisting with hardware and software troubleshooting, supporting IT systems and users, maintaining accurate IT records, and assisting with the implementation and maintenance of technology solutions to ensure reliable IT operations and effective user support across the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • IT Support & Troubleshooting Provide first-line technical support to employees, diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network and user-access issues, and escalate complex incidents where necessary.
  • Systems & Network Administration Support the day-to-day administration of computers, network infrastructure, user accounts, Microsoft 365/Google Workspace and other business applications, ensuring reliable system availability.
  • IT Asset & User Management Maintain accurate IT asset and equipment registers, support device configuration and deployment, manage user onboarding/offboarding, and ensure appropriate access rights are maintained.
  • Cybersecurity, Backup & Data Protection Implement routine security controls, software updates, antivirus protection, backups and access-management procedures while supporting compliance with organizational IT and data-protection requirements.
  • IT Operations, Monitoring & Documentation Monitor IT systems, maintain service and incident records, document recurring technical issues and solutions, prepare basic IT reports, and identify opportunities to improve technology reliability and user productivity.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • MUST have attained KCSE grade B+ and above.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant work experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Good understanding of IT systems, applications and basic troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
