Festival of Lights Maintenance Manager
Job description
Manage the planning, scheduling, maintenance, installation, and storage of the Oglebay Festival of Lights displays. Provide exceptional care to the grounds to attract guests, to help maintain attractive landscapes and improve the aesthetic value of the property.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Work alongside subordinates to ensure job tasks are correctly completed in an efficient manner. Develop and promote a safe work environment that supports quality work and high productivity. Oversee and coordinate activities related to the installation and maintenance of the Festival of Lights displays.
Install light displays using aerial lifts, bucket trucks, lulls, and other equipment Assist in department budget preparations and implementation of division strategies. Implements and oversees procedures and programs for FOL department Authorize and control expenditures within established limitations and purchasing rules.
Interview and select applicants for hire; oversee employee disciplinary action as needed Schedule and supervise staff, planning daily, weekly, and monthly schedules Approves payroll Oversee and records maintenance of department vehicles, materials, and equipment Hold safety meetings and provide training Train employees on equipment and all aspects of FOL displays Install, troubleshoot, and oversee storage of all RGB controllers and data transmission systems Oversee and coordinates all aspects of moving and adding displays, including but not limited to metal sleeve installation, metal fabrication and alterations, and light bulb type and size selection Coordinates as necessary with external contractors and internal departments for completion of Festival of Lights displays.
Requires basic knowledge of electrical concepts and fundamentals. Assist with the maintenance and/or removal of healthy, diseased, and/or dead trees and shrubs. Coordinate and manage the acquisition, processing, and distribution of firewood. Coordinate and manage the collection and removal of litter, garbage/point pickup and debris in designated areas.
Assist in management, coordination and execution of snow and ice removal park-wide Research, test, and recommend new materials, products, and equipment. Prepare work assignments during special events. Assist with other jobs as directed Adhere to Wheeling Park Commission’s safety rules and policy, and refer any and all safety concerns to department manager, safety committee or human resources Complete appropriate training as indicated on human resources training matrix Interact with the public with a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises 6-12 employees in the Festival of Lights Maintenance departments.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include
training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE Fourth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
