Job description
This is for daytime shifts for the 2026/2027 season. The tentative start date is November 15, 2026. Essential Tasks and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to: Set up guns and hoses as directed on the mountain. Produce quality snow through the use of air, water, and fan equipment. Relocate guns and hoses to various areas around the mountain.
Adjust, turn and move snow guns to maintain snowmaking efficiency. Adjust the water and/or air flow to snow guns. Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment including checking water pipes, fluid levels and volume, temperature controls, energy consumption and diesel fuel systems. Maintain all safety barriers, padding and guards around snowmaking equipment.
Responsible for the safe operation of snowmaking guns and systems on hill and in snowmaking facilities. Required to understand and follow all operational procedures as well as the manufacturer’s recommended operating guidelines. Be able to follow OSHA and Workplace Safety Standards. Be able to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
Be able to perform required daily maintenance in adverse conditions on multiple forms of transportation in a safe manner. Work safely in close proximity to heavy equipment, high voltage, and high water pressure. Work closely with and assist other departments such as Grooming, Ski Patrol, and Lift Operations. Test the quality of snow as it is made, report findings and conditions to supervisor.
Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and during snowstorms. Follow all safety protocols when working around high-pressure air/water lines, heavy machinery, and high voltage. Shoveling, clearing snow, and maintaining access paths to snowmaking equipment is required. Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Have the ability to operate a snowmobile in adverse conditions on rugged terrain. Self-motivated and able to satisfactorily perform tasks without supervision. Able to operate snowmaking equipment safely. Must possess valid driver’s license. Good organizational and mechanical skills. Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
Basic hand tool knowledge. Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s License Physical Demands: Work outside in an extreme cold environment for 12-hour shifts. Lift up to 60 pounds. Walk on snowy and icy slopes at various inclines, at times in total darkness. Use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste or smell, talk and hear.
Specific visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily- reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
