About the role
We are looking for a Mechanical Tradesperson to join our Maintenance Breakdown Team, helping to ensure the safe and reliable operation of critical plant and equipment across site. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, safety-focused tradesperson to work within a highly skilled maintenance team while developing expertise across a diverse range of equipment.
Flexible roster options are available. Reporting to the Supervisor and working within a supportive and collaborative team, you will: Carry out breakdown and preventative maintenance on plant and equipment Diagnose faults and implement effective repair solutions Maintain and improve cranes, compressors, conveying systems and potline equipment Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability and performance Complete maintenance activities in line with safety, quality and operational requirements Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to achieve shared outcomes About you A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team NZ-recognised Level 4 (or higher) Mechanical Trade qualification Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Willingness to work at heights and in confined spaces What we offer Competitive salary based on skills and experience Annual incentive programme Relocation assistance for eligible candidates Southern Cross health insurance for you and your eligible family Share ownership programme Competitive 10% superannuation Industry-leading training, development and education assistance Career progression opportunities within a global organisation Transport assistance between Invercargill and Tiwai Point Mobile phone allowance Generous leave entitlements, including long service leave A safe, inclusive workplace where people genuinely look out for one another Where you'll be working Located at New Zealand's Aluminium Smelter (NZAS), Tiwai Point is one of the world's largest aluminium smelters and plays an important role in New Zealand's economy.
