Job description
Role Overview: We are looking for a Senior L1 Data Center Engineer to support and maintain data center infrastructure and ensure smooth operations. The role involves monitoring servers and network devices, performing advanced first-level troubleshooting, supporting hardware installations, and coordinating with L2/L3 teams for incident resolution.
The candidate should have hands-on experience in data center environments and infrastructure monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor data center infrastructure, servers, and network devices to ensure high availability. Perform advanced first-level troubleshooting for hardware, connectivity, and infrastructure issues. Support rack and stack activities including server installation, cabling, and labeling. Perform health checks of servers, storage, and network devices.
Manage and update incident tickets and operational documentation. Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 teams as per escalation procedures. Monitor power, cooling, and environmental systems in the data center. Coordinate with vendors for hardware replacement and maintenance activities. Assist in patching, firmware upgrades, and infrastructure maintenance tasks.
Ensure data center security and access control compliance. Provide guidance and support to junior L1 engineers during shift operations.
Requirements
Technical Expertise Hands-on experience with data center infrastructure and operations. Good understanding of server hardware, storage systems, and network equipment. Knowledge of Linux and Windows server environments. Basic networking knowledge including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and routing fundamentals. Experience with server installation, cabling, and hardware troubleshooting.
Familiarity with remote management tools such as iLO, iDRAC, or IPMI. Exposure to virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V. Experience with monitoring tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or SolarWinds. Ability to perform initial root cause analysis for incidents and outages. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics / related field Diploma in IT / Networking / Hardware Basic certification in Networking or Infrastructure such as: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) CompTIA Server+ Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
