Job description
Tulip Tech designs, builds, and assembles battery packs for drones and electric aircraft in Den Bosch. Every pack is developed in-house, with a focus on energy density, weight, and runtime performance that off-the-shelf solutions cannot match. Following a partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Defence, we are scaling from technology development and prototype production towards high volume manufacturing.
We are currently commissioning our first production lines, and creating a manufacturing environment where engineering where engineering, automation, and high and low volume production come together. Why this role matters As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will take ownership of manufacturing processes across our production lines and equipment as we scale from prototype and Series-0 production batches towards high volume continuous production.
A key part of the role is setting up, improving, and stabilizing our semi-automated production line, and building our processes, tooling, and documentation needed to make production reliable and repeatable. You will work closely with mechanical and electronics engineers, taking manufacturing projects from prototype development through life cycle management.
What you will work on Take ownership of manufacturing processes and production equipment. Set up, improve, and stabilize semi-automated production equipment. Design and build tooling, fixtures, and jigs using SolidWorks. Define and standardize manufacturing processes, work instructions, FMEAs, and documentation. Identify production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement practical improvements.
Improved quality, yield, and cycle time through structured problem solving and Lean methodologies. Work hands-on with Series-0 production and resolve issues directly on the production floor. Provide DFA/DFM feedback to engineering to improve manufacturability. Design, test the tooling for production, develop our processes and ways of working to ensure we have a stable and scalable process which can be transferred to production.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar field. Hands-on experience in manufacturing or production engineering, ideally in series production environment. Experience setting up, commissioning, or improving production equipment or production lines. Strong SolidWorks skills and experience designing tooling, fixtures, or jigs.
Hands-on experience with standard workshop safety procedures, tools, and equipment. Good understanding of mechatronic systems, including mechanical components, electronics, PCBs, motors, and production equipment. A strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving mindset. Experience creating and implementing manufacturing documentation and standardized ways of working.
Experience applying Lean or continuous improvement methods in production. A structured, pragmatic approach and willingness to work hands-on on the production floor.
Nice to have
Experience in battery, EV, drone, automotive, or aerospace hardware. Experience with 3D-printed tooling or rapid prototyping of production aids. Experience in working in electronics manufacturing environments. Additional information Location: Den Bosch, on-site and full-time. The role is based on the production floor.
Work authorization: Right to work in the Netherlands is required. Some work is defense-adjacent; eligibility is confirmed during screening. Interview process: Intro call with Recruiter → Technical interview day with Hiring Manager + team (60 + 45 min, on-site) → Offer. What the role offers Direct involvement in defining and building manufacturing processes as the operation scales from prototype to volume.
Real ownership and influence over manufacturing decisions in a flat, engineering-led organization. A clear mission: battery systems for electric flight and European defence. 38 paid days off per year (25 vacation + 13 ADV under CAO Metaal & Techniek). 8% holiday allowance, travel reimbursement, pension via PMT, and daily lunch on-site.
An international team of 10+ nationalities, with regular team events. Interested? You would lead the industrialization of our battery production, from process design through to a stable, volume-ready line. The role offers real ownership and a clear engineering mandate. Den Bosch. On-site. Full time. No agencies, please.
