Full-time Family Medicine OB in Northwestern Ontario
Job description
Consider Dryden as the potential home for your future full-time medical practice - new grads are welcome! Dryden Regional Health Centre (DRHC) and Dingwall Medical Clinic are seeking a family (friendly!) physician interested in an OB practice to join our diverse rural healthcare team. Enhanced training in Obstetrical Surgical Skills/C-Sections is considered an asset.
Choose your adventure in Dryden - build an exciting mixed practice that includes family medicine (clinic), ED, hospitalist, obstetrics, anesthesia, LTC, surgical assist, and/or administrative roles. Join our team of 3 OB family physicians, including mentorship with a local GP with +OSS who currently provides all C-section coverage for the community.
Compensation
Dryden is an eligible community under the Northern Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative - physicians that establish a full-time practice in Dryden are eligible for $136,308 over four years! DRHC offers an additional return-of-service signing bonus and up to $15,000 in reimbursement for moving expenses. Practicing in Dryden also makes you eligible for Canada Student Loan forgiveness - up to $60,000 over 5 years.
Dingwall Medical Clinic is a Family Health Organization (FHO) capitation model which provides a stable income on an established roster. All local family physicians provide additional services with DRHC (ED, 2nd on-call, hospitalist, anesthesia, OB), allowing for individualized revenue streams and workloads. Average incomes (including clinic and hospital work) range from $450,000 - $800,000/year.
Competitive clinic overhead rates hover around 20%. Enjoy an overhead-free grace period as you settle into your clinic practice, and ongoing mentorship from our welcoming mix of young and experienced doctors. Teaching: Affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSM U) and Univerity of Toronto's Teaching Practice (TP) Rural Family Medicine program, DRHC is a busy teaching facility for medical learners and residents from across the country.
Opportunities for both clinical and academic teaching and faculty appointment. About DRHC: DRHC is on beautiful Treaty #3 territory, providing local healthcare to the community of Dryden, several surrounding rural municipalities, and the First Nation communities of Migisi Sahgaigan (Eagle Lake), Wabigoon Lake Ojibway, and Wabauskang.
We are a 42-bed hospital, including a 3-bed CCU, 24/7 Emergency Department, and 2 modern OR theatres with 1 fully integrated MIS suite. We have a regionally-integrated EMR (Meditech, current development towards adopting Meditech Expanse), on-site diagnostic imaging (CT, ultrasound, x-ray), laboratory services, and nearby pathology (Kenora).
DRHC is conveniently located on the same grounds as the Dingwall Medical Clinic and Dryden Area Family Health Team, making collaborative care a breeze. DRHC also hosts a Specialty Clinic that brings in visiting specialists year-round, supporting quality healthcare closer to home. This includes Orthopedic Surgery (knee, hip, spine), ENT, Plastics, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Urology, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry.
