Job description
Schedule: Work may be scheduled during 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, 3:30 PM–12:00 AM, or 11:30 PM–8:00 AM shifts. Rotating weekends and Federal holiday coverage may be required. Summary: The Medical Technologist will perform complex clinical laboratory testing, evaluate results, operate laboratory instrumentation, and perform required quality-control procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, microbiology, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- Current Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist certification through ASCP-BOR or AMT .
- Knowledge of high-complexity clinical laboratory testing and quality-control procedures.
- Ability to operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment. Duties:
- Perform qualitative and quantitative testing on blood, urine, spinal fluid, tissue, and other specimens.
- Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and automated systems.
- Perform quality-control testing, verify results, and identify abnormal or critical values.
- Support blood bank, microbiology, specimen preservation, and other assigned laboratory functions.
