Role Purpose:The Technology & Innovation Lead is responsible for identifying, evaluating and integrating innovative technologies and emerging solutions into mining studies and project development activities. The role ensures technology opportunities are systematically assessed and incorporated into concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility and execution planning activities to improve safety, productivity, sustainability, capital efficiency and project value through to operations This encompasses equipment, materials, design, power, water, mining, processing across the business to support technical\design to deliver predictable capital and schedule outcomes to minimize ambiguity\rework, optimise scope and support strategic investment decisions.
Accountabilities: Develop and maintain the technology and innovation strategy for project development. Support Concept Studies, Scoping Studies, PFS and FS activities with technology assessments Incorporate technology solutions from studies to delivery, to reduce costs and improve operational outcomes Provide Technical Subject Matter Expertise across the business to support technical\design SME’s Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including mining, mechanical, electrical, and control systems Lead technology trade-off studies and value engineering reviews Evaluate automation, electrification, digital, processing and sustainability technologies Establish technology governance and readiness assessment frameworks.
Prepare business cases and recommendations for executive decision-making Manage relationships with operations, OEMs, EPCMs, universities and technology providers Lead pilot programs, trials and innovation initiatives Support decarbonisation and ESG objectives Identify and manage technology-related risks and opportunities Coordinate multidisciplinary technical inputs and facilitate decision-making across stakeholders Drive capital efficiency for existing and new assets to drive better return on investments Lead value improvement, option assessment, and trade-off studies to optimise project outcomes Utilise and establish a network to China’s deep technical and engineering expertise and mature supply chain networks to accelerate studies, reduce costs, and improve delivery certainty Access deep technical expertise across mining, processing, metallurgy, engineering design, and large‑scale project delivery Tap into and embrace modern design practices, digital twins, and integrated engineering platforms Explore and incorporate innovative fabrication and modularisation approaches that reduce site construction risk on studies and projects Demonstrate behaviours that are always aligned with the MMG Values and Code of Conduct
