POSITION PURPOSE An Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B) is the foundational level of pre-hospital emergency care, trained to assess patients, manage respiratory, cardiac, and trauma emergencies, and provide transport. The EMT-B functions independently and as a team member to provide pre-hospital clinical medicine based on certification/licensure scope of practice, as well as be a patient’s greatest advocate to ensure the preservation of their rights, privacy, and dignity.
