JOB TITLE: Padder DEPARTMENT: Wood Shop FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Non‑Exempt SUMMARY: The Padder is responsible for applying foam and soft padding to wood frames using water-based adhesives, staple guns, and various hand tools.
Reporting to the Wood Shop Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor, this role plays a key part in the upholstery preparation process and requires consistent attention to detail in a production environment. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive frames from the framing department.
- Apply foam and padding to ensure complete coverage of each frame.
- Operate hand tools, staple guns, nail guns, and spray guns as required.
- Identify and report any rejected or defective parts.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Skilled in using hand and power tools, including staple, nail, and spray guns.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing production schedules.
- Collaborative mindset for cross-departmental teamwork.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Comfortable working in varying temperature environments.
- Able to meet strict production deadlines.
- Capable of lifting at least 30 lbs.
- Must follow all safety protocols and use required PPE. EFFORT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Continuous standing for up to 8 hours per shift.
- Frequent lifting, turning, bending, pushing, leaning, and twisting throughout the shift. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- At least six months of production experience.
- Ability to read and interpret diagrams and technical drawings.
