Job Summary
Reporting to the HR Director, this role is responsible for providing a broad range of HR services to employees, covering talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, learning & development, performance management, HR policies, and other HR initiatives aligned with regional/global HR plans and business strategies. Business Partnering / Employee Relations Partner with commercial departments and proactively work with Department Heads and HR Managers to address employee performance, development, compensation & rewards, disciplinary matters, and other HR-related issues.
Manage day-to-day HR operations for assigned areas, ensuring the appropriate resources and capabilities are in place to provide effective support to employees and managers. Provide regular reporting on HR activities and maintain effective communication with relevant stakeholders to ensure departmental objectives are delivered efficiently.
Maintain and update employee data and records in the HR system, providing managers with relevant information and recommendations to support effective people management. Develop solutions to address HR and business challenges and collaborate with APAC HR teams to implement regional and global HR initiatives. Talent Acquisition Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including position approval, candidate sourcing, recruitment partner management, interviewing and feedback calibration for manager-level positions and below, offer negotiation, offer management, and onboarding.
Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies, including innovative sourcing approaches and employer branding initiatives, to attract high-quality talent. Talent Development Propose and implement organizational and employee development programs based on succession planning and individual development plans to strengthen organizational capabilities.
Develop communication materials and training resources with minimal supervision and conduct post-training assessments to measure effectiveness and continuously improve program quality. Drive high-performance behaviors across the organization through an integrated approach aligned with APAC HR initiatives. Total Rewards / Compensation & Benefits Manage and coordinate the performance management cycle, providing employees and managers with the necessary guidance, forms, and tools to ensure effective understanding and implementation.
Partner with the HR Director and relevant Department Heads on the annual salary review process. Compliance Ensure HR practices comply with applicable local laws, regulations, company policies, and ethical standards, including internal and external audit requirements and SOX/internal control requirements related to HR processes and payroll.
Participate in employment contract reviews and changes, and support the administration of employment contracts in accordance with applicable labor laws and regulations, with guidance from external labor consultants. Projects & Initiatives Support the HR Director on key HR initiatives, including employer branding, employee engagement, corporate social responsibility, diversity & inclusion, global job leveling implementation, and employee wellness programs.
Other Responsibilities Proactively identify and implement process improvements to increase HR efficiency and effectiveness. Perform other HR-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the HR Director.
Requirements
7+ years of HR experience in progressively responsible roles, ideally with an HR/business-related degree or qualification. Strong knowledge across HR functions, including Talent Acquisition, L&D, Performance Management, C&B, employee development, and HR policies. Understanding of global HR practices, organizational culture, diversity & inclusion, and Japanese employment laws/regulations.
Bilingual Japanese and English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to handle complex HR matters. Strong business partnering and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, managers, directors, and external stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Strong MS Office and HRIS skills, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. High level of confidentiality and discretion when handling employee information. Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills. University degree required; Master’s degree in Business Management or a related field preferred.
