Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership Develop and lead the Church's financial strategy, ensuring it supports long-term growth, sustainability, and mission impact rather than functioning as a purely administrative or compliance exercise. Act as a strategic business partner to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board, providing data-driven insights and recommendations that inform key decisions.

Participate in the strategic planning process, lead budgeting and forecasting, and build a strong foundation of financial discipline and accountability. Identify and evaluate growth, investment, and revenue opportunities, presenting clear recommendations to the Board of Directors. Financial Planning, Reporting & Profitability Oversee asset and liability management and the Church's fund management program.

Prepare, present, and interpret financial reports to the Chief Executive Officer, the Lead Pastor, and relevant government authorities Review and approve payroll funding and salary disbursements in accordance with approved compensation structures, budgets, and organizational policies. Ensure payroll processes comply with applicable tax, pension, labor, and regulatory requirements across all campuses and affiliated entities.

Risk, Governance & Compliance Maintain and administer internal control and compliance policies, ensuring key risks are covered by appropriate rules and monitoring systems. Ensure full compliance with all legal, tax, and regulatory requirements, including Corporate Tax, Employee Tax, and VAT obligations. Maintain relations with external auditors, investigate their findings, and report risk issues to the audit committee of the Board.

Design, implement, and monitor a risk-based internal audit system, covering risk identification, quantification, and mitigation. Establish and monitor procurement policies and approval frameworks to ensure transparency, accountability, value for money, and compliance with approved budgets. Digital & Data-Driven Finance Champion the use of data and predictive analytics to strengthen the finance function's strategic influence across the organization.

Modernize financial systems and processes, moving the finance function from manual, transaction-heavy work toward automation and real-time visibility. Build the right structure, skills, and digital capability within the finance team to meet the demands of a growing, multi-campus organization. Stakeholder, Board & Ministry Alignment Partner closely with Lead Pastor, Campus Pastors, Resident Pastors, Ministry Heads, and Department Heads across all campuses to support ministry planning, budget development, resource allocation, and financial stewardship.

Provide financial guidance and decision-support to Lead Pastor, Campus Pastors and ministry leaders, ensuring ministry objectives are achieved within approved financial parameters and organizational priorities. Conduct periodic financial review meetings with Campus Pastors and ministry leaders to review budget performance, financial sustainability, and resource requirements.

Support Campus Pastors and ministry leaders in evaluating new ministry initiatives, outreach programs, projects, and expansion opportunities by providing financial analysis and sustainability assessments. Work collaboratively with Human Resources, Administration, Information Technology, Communications, and other departments to ensure alignment between departmental plans, approved budgets, and organizational objectives.

Promote a culture of accountability, and financial discipline across all campuses, ministries, subsidiaries, and affiliated entities. Ensure financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting standards are consistently implemented across all church campuses and operational locations. Communicate complex financial matters clearly to non-financial leaders, pastors, and Board members, supporting sound governance.

Oversee employee benefit plans across pastoral and non-pastoral roles, with emphasis on a cost-effective and equitable benefits package. Operate with pastoral sensitivity and a deep respect for the Church's values, stewarding both its resources and its relationships in support of its mission. Financial Governance & Payment Approval Review and approve payments within delegated authority limits, ensuring all expenditures comply with approved budgets, organizational policies, and internal control requirements.

Establish and maintain an effective approval framework for payments, procurement, contracts, and financial commitments across the Church and its subsidiaries. Monitor expenditure patterns and cash utilization to ensure prudent stewardship of Church resources. Provide oversight of payroll administration and employee-related financial obligations, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable regulations.

Treasury, Liquidity & Cash Management Oversee treasury operations, cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, banking relationships, and investment activities to ensure the Church maintains adequate financial resources to meet its obligations and strategic objectives. Manage relationships with banks, investment institutions, auditors, regulators, and other financial stakeholders.

Develop and oversee investment strategies for reserves, designated funds, and surplus resources in accordance with Board-approved policies. Harvesters Africa Empowerment Foundation (HAEF) Provide financial stewardship for Harvesters Africa Empowerment Foundation (HAEF), ensuring effective management of the Foundation's financial resources in line with its mission, donor requirements, and applicable regulations.

Oversee the preparation, review, and presentation of the Foundation's budgets, financial statements, grant reports, donor reports, and statutory filings. Ensure compliance with all financial, regulatory, tax, donor, and governance requirements applicable to the Foundation and its program. Manage annual audits of Harvesters Africa Empowerment Foundation (HAEF), ensuring audit recommendations are implemented and compliance issues are promptly addressed.

Provide periodic financial performance reports and recommendations relating to the Foundation to the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Trustees, and other relevant governance bodies. Support fundraising initiatives, donor engagements, grant management, and impact reporting by providing financial analysis and stewardship oversight.

Requirements

Academic Qualification A first degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. Membership of a recognized accounting professional body (e.g. ICAN, ACA, ACCA, CPA) or a relevant master's degree. Work Experience At least 10 years of practical experience in accounting, finance, and auditing within a major financial institution or a reputable, large-scale organization, with at least 5 years in an executive or departmental leadership capacity.

Experience within a faith-based, nonprofit, or multi-site organization is an advantage. Personal Skills Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business decisions. Strong organizational, numeracy, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying risks and opportunities.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial matters clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and accounting software such as Sage 50, Peachtree, or equivalent platforms. Strong management, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the credibility to influence across the organization.
