Roving Facilities Maintenance Technician
Job description
We are seeking a Roving Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the operation and maintenance of multiple commercial properties. This position requires regular travel between assigned locations and the ability to work independently, prioritize service requests, and adapt to changing maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities
Travel between assigned properties to perform scheduled maintenance, respond to service requests, and address urgent facility needs. Operate and maintain facility equipment, such as, but not limited to boilers, air compressors, water treatment systems, pumps, motors, and valves. Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
Monitor, record, and analyze equipment operating data; respond promptly to alarms and abnormal operating conditions. Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment and associated control systems. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts inventory for each assigned property. Coordinate with property managers and the maintenance team to prioritize work across multiple locations.
Support energy management and conservation efforts by optimizing equipment operation and performance. Respond to emergency calls involving equipment failures and system malfunctions at assigned properties. Collaborate with facility engineers, contractors, and management on equipment upgrades, renovations, and capital projects.
Perform all work in accordance with established safety policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, or related systems preferred. At least three years of commercial building maintenance experience. Working knowledge of boiler and HVAC system operation and maintenance. Familiarity with digital controls, building automation systems (BAS), and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and manage maintenance responsibilities across multiple properties. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly between assigned locations.
Basic computer proficiency and effective communication skills.
