Job description

Roles & Responsibilities of and IT Assistant

  1. Technical Support  Help Desk Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for IT-related issues and inquiries. Respond to support requests via phone, email, and in-person.  Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software malfunctions to ensure minimal downtime for users.  Installation and Configuration: Assist in the setup and configuration of computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
  2. Network Management  Basic Networking Support: Aid in the maintenance of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). This includes monitoring network performance and connectivity issues.  User Account Management: Create, modify, and delete user accounts in various systems, ensuring appropriate permissions and access levels.
  3. Maintenance and Documentation  System Maintenance: Regularly update and patch software applications and operating systems to ensure security and performance.  Documentation: Keep detailed records of support requests, solutions provided, and system configurations. Compile reports on IT operations and maintenance.
  4. Assisting IT Projects  Project Participation: Assist in IT projects such as hardware upgrades, software deployments, or implementation of new IT solutions.  Training: Provide basic training to employees on new technologies, software applications, and best practices for maintaining security and software hygiene.
  5. Inventory Management  Equipment Inventory: Help manage inventory of IT equipment, including computers, printers, and accessories. Ensure that the inventory is up-to-date and properly tracked.  Supplies Ordering: Monitor supply levels and assist in ordering replenishment for hardware and software licenses as needed.

Required Skills

Proficient in common operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), office productivity software, and basic networking concepts.  Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively and efficiently.  Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with users and technical staff.

 Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.  Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with IT team members and other departments.
