Engineer - Installation Commissioning team
Job description
Key Responsibilities:- We are looking for a GIS Testing Engineer to join our Installation and Commissioning team, specializing in Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS). The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of GIS erection, IS standards, and transformer-related activities. This role requires hands-on experience in GIS installation, alignment, testing, and maintenance.
Perform testing and commissioning of HV GIS equipment at customer sites, ensuring compliance with technical specifications. Conduct routine and type tests such as high-voltage withstand tests, partial discharge tests, contact resistance tests, SF6 gas analysis, and functional testing. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to HV GIS systems and support root cause analysis for failures.
Ensure adherence to IEC, IEEE, IS, and other relevant international standards in all testing procedures. Coordinate with design, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure smooth execution of testing and commissioning activities. Maintain and operate high-voltage test equipment such as power frequency test sets, SF6 gas analyzers, and circuit breaker testers.
Prepare detailed test reports, documentation, and non-conformance reports (NCRs). Conduct site acceptance tests (SAT) and factory acceptance tests (FAT) as per customer requirements. Provide technical support and training to customer personnel on GIS operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and site-specific safety regulations while working on HV GIS equipment.
Work within a cross-functional team environment, collaborating with various stakeholders to resolve issues and improve processes. Stay updated on Industry 4.0 advancements, digital monitoring solutions, and automation trends in HV GIS.
Requirements
B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering. Experience: 1 to 3 years or more in HV GIS testing, commissioning, or maintenance. Preferred Certifications: Candidates with ISO 9001:2015 / IMS certification will be given preference Required Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of GIS erection and IS standards. Understanding of transformer IEC/IS standards.
Expertise in transformer unloading, erection, oil filtration, and testing activities. Familiarity with IMS Integrated System (ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015). Strong problem-solving skills to analyze execution issues and take corrective measures. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
