Brightshores Health System (http://www.brightshores.ca/) Brightshores Health System (Brightshores) operates six hospitals in southwestern Ontario with its Level 2 regional referral hospital located in the City of Owen Sound. A full range of specialty services are offered through the Departments of Anaesthesiology, Medical Imaging, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology).

Thriving rural hospitals are located in the communities of Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton and Wiarton, servicing a range of ambulatory, inpatient and emergency needs. The corporation services a catchment area of over 170,000 residents and more than 2 million short-stay visitors each year. Opportunity The Pathology Department medical staff complement accommodates 5.

5 FTEs, with an immediate opportunity for a 1.0 Full-Time Pathologist. Ideal candidates will have certification in General Pathology or in Anatomical Pathology with additional hematopathology training. This is an interesting broad spectrum (general surgery, head and neck, gynecology, thoracic surgery and urology) practice opportunity that includes medico-legal autopsies.

The laboratory is well equipped and includes a broad panel of automated immunohistochemistry. We have an in-depth Quality Assurance Program in which all members participate. Facilities and Resources Brightshores provides a modern, well-supported clinical environment, including: Over 95,000 annual Emergency Department visits across the system 24-hour laboratory services Strong specialty backup and interdisciplinary collaboration Advanced diagnostic imaging, including CT, two MRI units, Interventional Radiology, and PACS Requirements Qualifications Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent Eligibility for independent licensure in Ontario Benefits Compensation Laboratory Medicine Funding Agreement, as per provincial funding model.
