About the job

The Head of Capex & Maintenance Procurement is accountable for defining and executing the global procurement strategy for Capex and maintenance-related spend as well as Energy and Waste across Opella’s internal manufacturing network. Spend=150to180m€. The role ensures value creation, supply continuity, compliance, and innovation while enabling operational excellence and long-term asset performance.

As a people leader, the role develops high-performing procurement teams and acts as a trusted business partner to Manufacturing & Supply, Finance, and Sustainability stakeholders. Main responsibilities: * Strategic Procurement Leadership Define and deploy category strategies for Capex projects (industrial equipment, engineering services, utilities, automation) and Maintenance/MRO spend as well as Energy & Waste ones, aligned with business priorities, manufacturing roadmaps, and Opella’s growth ambitions.

Drive total cost of ownership (TCO), standardization, and risk mitigation across the portfolio. * Value Creation & Performance Management Deliver sustainable value through cost optimization, productivity initiatives, supplier innovation, and competitive sourcing, while ensuring quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance in a healthcare consumer environment.

Track and report performance through clear KPIs (savings, cash, service, risk). * Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership Act as a strategic partner to your stakeholders. Challenge demand when appropriate, influence investment decisions upstream, and ensure early procurement involvement in Capex projects and asset lifecycle decisions.

  • Supplier Relationship & Risk Management Build and manage a robust supplier ecosystem, including strategic partnerships with OEMs, engineering firms, and service/utilities providers. Lead supplier performance reviews, manage contract frameworks, and proactively address supply, execution, and compliance risks. * Governance, Compliance & Sustainability Ensure procurement governance, ethics, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Integrate sustainability, responsible sourcing, and ESG criteria into Capex and Maintenance, Energy sourcing decisions, in line with Opella’s purpose and commitments. * Team Leadership & Capability Development Lead, coach, and develop direct reports and extended teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Build procurement capabilities in strategic sourcing, project procurement, negotiation, and stakeholder management, while supporting talent development and succession planning. * Transformation & Continuous Improvement Drive procurement transformation initiatives, including digital tools, process harmonization, and best practice sharing across sites and regions.

Contribute to cross-functional programs aimed at improving asset performance, reliability, and speed-to-market.

About you

Experience: proven experience leading Indirect procurement

  • Capex and/or Maintenance (MRO) procurement is a plus, delivering value through strategic sourcing, supplier management, and total cost of ownership in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Skills: Strong stakeholder partnering skills , with the ability to influence and collaborate Leadership and people development capability , including experience managing and coaching procurement professionals and building high‑performing, engaged teams Solid commercial and contractual expertise , including negotiation, supplier performance management, and risk mitigation in complex project and service environments Change‑driven and improvement‑oriented mindset , with the ability to drive standardization, process improvement, and procurement transformation Education: Degree in Engineering, or Business, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience) Languages: Fluent English required; additional languages are a plus in a global environment.
