Job Summary
To operate the melting pot and holding pot controls of the continuous strip casting and rolling system. To ensure the delivery of lead metal at the correct temperature and composition to the strip casting machine Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the burner ignition and combustion regulation of the melting pot and holding pot.
- Responsible for the charging of lead ingots to the melting pot and ensures that there is sufficient lead in both melting and holding pot at all times.
- Controls the melting operation and molten metal transfer to the holding pot and to the tundish of the strip casting machine.
- Submits lead samples from the melting pot and holding at the start of each shift and during alloying activities to the QA material Testing Laboratory for chemical analysis.
- Monitors all melting pot and holding parameters and ensure that they are within the specified process conditions.
- Checks and monitors the pressure of LPG at the gas farm, gas reducing ramp and pot gas ramps.
- Responsible for the drossing of both the melting pot and holding pot.
- Responsible for the removal of lead blocks from scrap boxes, cleaning them and repainting them when required.
- Responsible for the removal of lead blocks from scrap lead block.
- Checks lead ingot supply and ensure their proper classification and storage.
- Responsible for the cleanliness and housekeeping of the furnaces area .
- Promptly implements corrective and preventive action in cases of quality, machine, environmental and productivity problems in accordance with established troubleshooting guidelines.
- Performs preventive maintenance according to schedule and defined procedures and assists in corrective maintenance tasks.
- Ensures that tasks are carried out in accordance to set environmental standards and procedures Qualifications: Knowledge Technical or Vocational graduate or with at least 2 years Engineering education.
