Welder Assistant (Temporary)
Job description
JOB SUMMARY
The Welder Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the management of the manufacturing machines by repairing metal structures, tools, and equipment. He will also be responsible for assisting in planning layouts and measurements and testing welded surfaces. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assisting in welding small and large components Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines that perform the same job.
Assist in maintaining and repairing all machinery. Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors. Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature. Assist in welding components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
Any other duties assigned WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Physically engage in repetitive hand movements, reaching shelves of varying heights, stoop, bend and kneel frequently.
- Work in a dusty manufacturing surrounding.
- Work outdoors in all types of weather, or indoors, sometimes in a confined area designed to contain sparks and glare Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent qualification. A valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution is preferred. A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a welder will be a plus Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs. Outstanding attention to detail.
