Overview

Lead MRI Technologist – West Ashley Diagnostic Imaging Join West Ashley Diagnostic Imaging as a Lead MRI Technologist . In this outpatient imaging setting, you will combine advanced MRI expertise with exceptional patient care to deliver high-quality diagnostic exams. This role includes performing MRI scans efficiently, supporting daily operations, mentoring staff, and ensuring an outstanding patient experience.

Responsibilities

  1. Complete scans effectively and efficiently:
  • Collect pertinent data about the patient and the procedure
  • Select the most appropriate cost-effective action plan after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient’s abilities and condition
  • Screen patient for ferrous and RF-sensitive material before the patient enters the magnetic field
  • Position and prepare patients for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures• Select appropriate immobilization devices
  • Review the patient’s chart and the physician’s request to determine optimal scanning parameters for the suspected pathology• Prepare and administer contrast agents in accordance with state and federal regulations• Enter necessary patient information to initiate the scan(s)• Assess and monitor the patient’s physical and mental status throughout the procedure• Review images to determine if additional scans will enhance the diagnostic value of the procedure• Document diagnostic, treatment and patient data in the appropriate record. Documentation must be timely, accurate, concise and complete• Archive images to data storage devices according to established guidelines• Keep work flow in such a manner that it is an effective use of time, equipment and supplies2. Maintain the highest standards of patient care possible:• Implement and maintain the Med. Quest Best Customer Service Program• Provide accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patient can understand• Maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique• Exhibit exemplary technical competence and clinical judgment• Ensure that the required supplies and equipment are available• Check all equipment routinely and perform preventive maintenance when necessary• Maintain a safe environment by monitoring cryogens• Act as a preceptor for new employees• Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues, peers and all members of the healthcare team• Lead at least one training session per year for fellow employees• Develop at least two case studies per year to present to others in the Center or Region3. Ensure the Center’s compliance with Med. Quest Policy procedures, OSHA, local, state and Federal regulatory requirements.• Follow radiation protection guidelines• Participate in formal training and service programs• Ensure that deadlines are met with regards to reports• Perform quality assurance activities based on established quality protocols• Document quality assurance activities and results• Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to medical records and other data4. Exhibit an understanding of the Center budget and scan volumes:• Communicate regularly with the scheduling department• Establish goals with the scheduling department• Develop a system to add unscheduled patients into the timetable for scans5. Continuing Education:• Cross-train for additional modalities within the center• Complete and retain certification in MRI technology• Build education files on an outstanding or interesting case Qualifications Education:Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology programARRT registered (R), (MR) and, preferrable, (CT) or certification in an additional modality performed at the center. Must complete required CEU’s in a timely manner to ensure Certification remains active. Active state licensure(s), where applicableCPR Certification is required. Prior Experience:0 to 4+ years of experience as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist. Special Qualifications:IV skills required. Advanced knowledge of MRI procedures and standards.
