Position Overview
Sencorp. White is seeking a motivated, technically skilled Field Service Engineer to join our growing service team. The Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing automated material handling and storage equipment at customer locations throughout the assigned territory and across the United States.
Our equipment includes Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs), vertical and horizontal carousels, and other automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), incorporating mechanical, electrical, controls, and software technologies. This is a hands-on, customer-facing position that requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, technical troubleshooting abilities, and the ability to work independently in a variety of industrial and commercial environments.
No two days are exactly the same. One day may involve diagnosing an electrical issue, another performing preventive maintenance, and another helping a customer restore critical equipment to operation. The ideal candidate enjoys solving technical challenges, working with customers, learning new technologies, and taking ownership of service assignments from diagnosis through resolution.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Repair Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on automated material handling and storage equipment.
Service Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs), vertical and horizontal carousels, and other automated storage and retrieval systems. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, electronic, and controls-related equipment malfunctions. Troubleshoot motors, drives, sensors, switches, relays, wiring, control panels, and other machine components.
Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions to minimize customer downtime. Interpret and utilize mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation. Use appropriate diagnostic tools, electrical test equipment, and mechanical tools to identify and resolve equipment issues.
Perform equipment adjustments, component replacements, calibrations, and operational testing. Assist with equipment installations, commissioning, upgrades, retrofits, and modifications as assigned. Verify proper machine operation and safety functionality following maintenance or repairs. Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend solutions to improve equipment reliability and performance.
Customer Service and Field Operations Serve as a primary technical representative of Sencorp. White while working at customer facilities. Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment issues, service activities, repair recommendations, and expected completion timelines. Respond to scheduled and emergency service requests in accordance with customer service commitments.
Manage assigned service calls independently while maintaining communication with dispatch, supervisors, and technical support. Explain equipment problems and corrective actions clearly to customers with varying levels of technical knowledge. Provide customers with basic equipment operating guidance and preventive maintenance recommendations.
Identify opportunities for additional maintenance, replacement parts, equipment upgrades, and other aftermarket services. Follow up with customers to confirm equipment performance and satisfaction following service completion. Maintain a professional appearance and represent Sencorp. White positively at all customer locations.
Service Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities Accurately document service activities, troubleshooting findings, repairs performed, parts utilized, and recommendations. Maintain complete and timely service records in Salesforce and other designated company systems. Prepare clear and accurate field service reports documenting equipment conditions and corrective actions.
Communicate parts requirements and coordinate with internal departments to support timely equipment repairs. Maintain accurate records of labor hours, travel time, service activities, and related expenses. Submit complete and accurate travel expense reports in accordance with company policy. Maintain company-issued tools, equipment, computers, and assigned vehicles, if applicable.
Participate in service meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. Safety and Compliance Follow all Sencorp. White and customer safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. Apply appropriate electrical and mechanical safety practices, including lockout/tagout procedures.
Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and fall protection equipment. Identify and promptly report unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents, and accidents. Maintain a clean and safe work environment while performing equipment maintenance and repairs. Complete required safety training and comply with customer-specific site requirements.
Required Qualifications Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Experience working with industrial machinery, electromechanical equipment, automated systems, or related technology. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
Familiarity with electrical and mechanical hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and testing procedures. Comfortable using computers, software applications, and electronic service documentation systems. Ability to work independently, manage service assignments, and make sound technical decisions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to adapt to changing schedules, customer priorities, and technical challenges. Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements. Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50-75%, including overnight travel. Availability for overtime and scheduled on-call assignments based on customer service needs.
Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Field Service Technician, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Electromechanical Technician, or similar technical position. Experience servicing automated storage and retrieval systems, material handling equipment, conveyors, industrial machinery, or warehouse automation systems.
Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motor controls, sensors, and industrial control systems. Familiarity with industrial electrical troubleshooting and control panel components. Experience with equipment installations, commissioning, preventive maintenance, or machine repair. Experience working in manufacturing, distribution, warehouse automation, or industrial environments.
Familiarity with Salesforce or other service management platforms. Mechanical and Electrical Aptitude: Strong understanding of how mechanical, electrical, and automated systems operate together.

Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with field service, engineering, technical support, and other departments.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach while performing equipment maintenance and repairs. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull tools, parts, and equipment, with appropriate lifting assistance or mechanical lifting devices when necessary. Ability to safely handle and install heavy components, including motors and equipment, using appropriate lifting equipment and assistance.
Ability to work at elevated heights using approved ladders, platforms, and fall protection equipment. Ability to work in enclosed or restricted-access equipment areas when appropriate safety procedures are met. Ability to perform duties in manufacturing facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, and other industrial environments.
Ability to distinguish electrical wiring and component identification through color coding or other approved identification methods. Ability to travel by automobile and commercial aircraft, including extended driving and overnight stays. Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Travel and Scheduling Requirements Approximately 50-75% travel, primarily to customer locations. Overnight travel and occasional extended assignments may be required. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or nonstandard hours when necessary to support customer operations. Participation in scheduled on-call coverage to meet customer service response commitments.
Compliance with customer-specific access, security, and safety requirements.
