Weld Shop Foreman

Essential Functions

Responsible for the supervision of performance of all work in welding shop and ensure work is accomplished per approved drawings and customer requirements. Ensure all time reporting is accurate and complete to reflect actual project charges. Train subordinate personnel and establish work performance standards. Requisition appropriate welding equipment to ensure no disruptions with schedule.

Ensure all material is properly marked with heat codes and handled in safe manner. Monitor and evaluate welding process and procedures to ensure maximum output; plan and monitor workflow. Confer with Production Manager and Quality Assurance Director regarding any issues. Ensure all work orders and drawing packets are completed properly and turned into Quality Assurance Director at completion of project.

Ensure compliance with Techcrane Quality Management System. Enforce use of personal protective equipment at all times. Oversee shop cleanliness and organization, this includes breakrooms. Supervise subordinates in accordance with company policies, procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications

Must have high school diploma or equivalent. At least 7 years’ experience in heavy structural fabrication. Supervisory experience is required. Experienced with welding practices and symbology per AWS D1.1. Must be able to read and interpret fabrication drawings. Must be proficient in fabrication and welding of structural steel components.

Must be proficient in gouging steel components and making 100% UT welds. Leadership, organizational and time-management skills. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
