About your new role We're looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our café team on a 6 Month Fixed Term Contract .

In this hands-on role, you'll work closely with the team to deliver a simple, quality food offering that perfectly complements our coffee. This is a role for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in producing great food, and is happy to jump in wherever needed. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively with the team, and be confident working autonomously when required.

A day in the life

Arriving bright and early and enjoying a coffee with the team before service begins Assisting the Cafe Manager with food preparation for the day ahead Washing dishes and maintaining a clean, organised back-of-house area Ensuring food safety, cleanliness and quality standards are upheld throughout the day Baking sweet treats and toasting sandwiches Plating dishes and running the pass during service Supporting the front-of-house team on the floor or till when required Helping with stock organisation and general kitchen operations Pitching in wherever needed to keep the café running smoothly About you You have a passion for great food, quality coffee and hospitality, and enjoy being part of a close-knit team where everyone contributes to delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Must-haves Previous café or commercial kitchen experience Confidence with food preparation and basic cooking Strong food safety and hygiene standards Fast, organised and reliable during busy service periods Ability to follow recipes and presentation standards consistently Team-focused and willing to jump across all kitchen duties Availability for early mornings and weekends Food Safety/Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certification, or willingness to obtain Nice to have Experience working with seasonal, produce-led menus Baking or pastry skills Experience with ordering, stock control and waste management Current Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certification Interest in coffee and hospitality Experience supporting menu development Working at Allpress Alongside a great team culture, we offer a range of perks including as much coffee as you'd like while you're at work, 250g of beans to take home each week, a free and confidential Employee Assistance Program, a wellbeing allowance, volunteer leave, and opportunities to learn and grow.
