General Surgeon (Elective/ACS Position)

The Department of Surgery at the Niagara Health (NH) seeks a highly skilled and motivated physicians with a passion for providing the highest quality care to join the Division of General Surgery. Reason for vacancy To fill a 0.5 FTE equivalent vacancy Current Group 15 FTE equivalent General Surgeons The practice: Hybrid Elective/ACS Position 0.5 OR and 0.5 endoscopy resources Elective resources will be scheduled outside of ACS time Call: 1 week ACS/Month Friday 5pm – Friday 5pm with 2 relief nights Call is for the Marotta Family Hospital.
No ACS coverage at the other sites is expected. Department: Full mix of general surgery with including laparoscopy Ancillary Staff: Excellent fully trained nursing and clinic staff. Gyns, Vascular surgeons, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgeons, General Internists, Hospitalists, Otolaryngologist, Urologists, Radiologists, Closed ICU Academic Affiliations The Mc.
Master University’s Michael G. De. Groote School of Medicine has expanded to a regional campus in Niagara, which is located at Brock University. Students at the Niagara Regional Campus complete their clinical rotations in one of the six area hospitals with teaching done by the highly skilled and motivated hospital physicians.
Niagara also hosts its own general surgery residency program, affiliated with Mc. Master Hamilton. We have one resident per year that trains primarily at the St.Catharines site. Opportunities for strengthening and building strong academic partnerships are a priority for Niagara Health as the hospital has expanded into this new facility.
We are interested in Physicians who will pursue a university faculty appointment and participate in academic activities within a strong regional community hospital setting.
