Job description
Job Description CNC Programmer | Mastercam | Job Shop Job Description We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to develop, optimize, and maintain machining programs that support high-quality, efficient manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for translating engineering intent into effective machining strategies, ensuring parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
This is not a repetitive production programming role. We operate in a job shop environment where every project presents a new challenge. Success in this role requires a strong machining background, sound manufacturing judgment, and the ability to develop creative, efficient solutions for unique parts and applications.
What You'll Do
Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam and other CAM software. Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements to develop machining strategies. Select tooling, cutting parameters, and fixturing solutions to maximize performance. Simulate and verify toolpaths to ensure accuracy and prevent collisions.
Support CNC machinists and operators with setup instructions and technical guidance. Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machining issues on the production floor. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing cycle times and increasing efficiency. Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to improve manufacturability and process performance.
Maintain program documentation, revision control, and backups. Ensure all machining processes meet quality, safety, and customer requirements.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications 3+ years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong machining background with a thorough understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixturing, and setup practices. Proficiency with CAM software, preferably Mastercam. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
Knowledge of G-code and CNC controls such as Fanuc, Mazak, or similar. Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling selection, and process optimization. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Experience programming 4-axis or 5-axis machining centers. Familiarity with CAD software such as Inventor or AutoCAD. Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience. Experience in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment.
Apply Today If you thrive on solving complex machining challenges, developing new processes, and creating efficient manufacturing solutions, we'd like to hear from you.
