Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, components, and services provided by suppliers consistently meet the company’s quality and reliability standards. The role involves supplier qualification, quality system audits and continuous improvement activities to achieve zero-defect supply performance for lead-acid battery manufacturing.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Supplier Qualification and Development 1.1 Evaluate and approve new suppliers through quality system audits and technical capability assessments. 1.2 Collaborate with the Purchasing, Engineering, and Production teams to establish supplier approval criteria. 1.3 Support the onboarding of new suppliers by ensuring compliance with company and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949). Supplier Performance Monitoring Track supplier quality metrics, prepare monthly supplier performance reports and coordinate supplier review meetings. Recommend improvement actions for underperforming suppliers and monitor implementation effectiveness. Nonconformance and Corrective Actions Lead supplier-related nonconformance investigations and ensure timely submission of robust supplier’s corrective action reports (SCAR). Coordinate return or disposition of defective materials. Verify and validate the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.
- Documentation and Compliance 4.1 Maintain supplier audit records, quality agreements, and inspection documentation. 4.2 Support ISO/IATF system audits and customer audits as required.
Qualifications
Graduate of any Engineering course (preferably licensed). At least 2 years of work-related experience in quality or compliance roles. Working knowledge of ISO 9001; familiarity with IATF 16949 is a strong advantage. Experience in document control and records management. Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Skilled in quality system development and implementation. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.) Strong personality and ability to interact with cross-functional teams.
