About 1872

1872 is an AI-native steel fabrication company developing fully automated, lights-out factories capable of producing finished steel components directly from CAD to completed parts. Our mission is to remove the supply chain bottlenecks limiting America’s infrastructure by rebuilding heavy manufacturing from first principles. Founded by SpaceX alumni who scaled some of the most demanding production and software systems in the world, 1872 applies first-principles thinking, automation, and factory software to one of America’s most critical industries. Our prototype factory in Cincinnati, Ohio will serve as the proving ground for a new model of steel manufacturing: fast, scalable, and software native. 1872 is building a new foundation for American manufacturing and we’re hiring, join our team → https://1872.ai/careers
