About 38 Sierra
Most organizations are preparing to stop drones in the air. Very few are prepared to deal with them on the ground. 38 Sierra exists to solve that problem. When a drone is grounded—crashed, abandoned, or used to deliver a payload—the risk profile changes immediately. These incidents are often encountered first by personnel without specialized training, creating a critical vulnerability at the point of discovery. We focus exclusively on that moment. 38 Sierra develops training and training aids that prepare personnel to identify, report, and safely respond to grounded unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and associated hazards. Our flagship program, Drone Incident Response Training (DIRT™), supports: Military and federal agencies State and local law enforcement Bomb squads and EOD units Critical infrastructure and security teams Corrections and public safety organizations We design and manufacture realistic inert drone training aids and threat simulators that replicate: Weaponized drone payloads Contraband delivery systems Improvised and explosive hazards This enables personnel to train against real-world threats—without real-world risk. 38 Sierra was founded by professionals who contributed to U.S. Military doctrine for downed UAS response. Our approach is grounded in operational experience, not theory, and is designed to improve hazard recognition, reinforce safe standoff procedures, and support decision-making in high-risk, uncertain environments. Because most drone incidents are not resolved in the air. They are discovered on the ground. And the outcome depends on how the first person on scene responds.
