About Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc.

Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. (AHSTI) is a nationally recognized nonprofit expanding access to affordable housing across the Rio Grande Valley. For nearly 50 years, we’ve partnered with families, funders, and community stakeholders to make homeownership more accessible and sustainable. We guide low- to moderate-income households through the home buying process, from homeownership education and HUD-approved housing counseling to mortgage pre-approval and navigating home financing options. Our team connects first-time homebuyers to programs, grants, and mortgage assistance that make owning a home possible. At the same time, we develop subdivisions and new home communities across the RGV, offering move-in ready, energy-efficient homes designed for long-term stability. By increasing access to affordable homes for low-income families, we’re strengthening communities and creating pathways to lasting opportunity.
