At Agritech Empowerment Network-Kenya (AEN-Kenya), we empower women and youth across Kenya to lead transformative action against climate change and unsustainable land use. Through tree planting, agroforestry, and organic farming, we are advancing environmental conservation, food security, and climate-resilient agriculture. We recognize that modern, industrialized farming systems are degrading ecosystems while failing to provide stable income or sustainability for the very farmers our global food systems rely on. At AEN-Kenya, we confront this crisis by working directly with smallholder farmers and their families, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and support to restore their land and livelihoods. As a trusted leader in agroforestry training for over 10 years, we deliver hands-on, immersive education, capacity-building, and market access programs that help farmers regenerate their landscapes. Our signature methodology—the Food Forest Approach—supports the planting of thousands of fast-growing, ecologically appropriate trees alongside diverse food crops. This approach fosters biodiversity, soil regeneration, water retention, and nutritional resilience, while enabling farmers to generate multiple income streams. Through our advocacy work, we also strive to influence policies that promote climate-smart agriculture, youth inclusion, and women’s economic empowerment. Our holistic model not only builds farmer resilience but also nurtures a new generation of environmental stewards, committed to sustainable development across Kenya. By restoring degraded land and shifting away from extractive practices, AEN-Kenya is helping communities break the cycles of climate vulnerability and generational poverty—reclaiming their agency, rebuilding ecosystems, and transforming Kenya’s food systems from the ground up.
