About Alianza Socioambiental Fondos del Sur

Alianza Socioambiental Fondos del Sur – Socio-Environmental Funds of the Global South – is a pioneering alliance of Global South–led funds working across some of the planet’s most threatened biomes. We are united by a shared purpose: to expand access to resources for grassroots groups and frontline communities, whose knowledge, resistance, and solutions have long been marginalized by traditional philanthropic models. We are a living network, in constant movement, promoting peer learning, shared strategies, and coordinated action among locally rooted funds. These funds play a critical role in the philanthropic ecosystem: they are embedded in territories, build long-term trust with communities, and ensure that resources reach those most affected by socio-environmental crises in ways that are accessible, culturally grounded, and politically meaningful. Beyond internal strengthening, Alianza amplifies local voices and connects struggles and solutions across regions, positioning Global South perspectives in global debates on climate, biodiversity, and socio-environmental justice. Today, the network brings together 16 local and activist funds that, throughout their histories, have supported initiatives in more than 50 countries, moving resources directly to communities and advancing locally led change. 🌐 Explore our work, publications, and member funds accessing our website.
