About Alton Football Club

⚽️ Alton FC, established in 2016 through the merger of Alton Town FC and Alton United Youth FC, carries a rich legacy rooted in the town's football history. The senior section, Alton Town FC, traces its origins to 1990 when Alton's two senior clubs, Alton Town and Bass Alton, merged. Alton Town enjoyed remarkable success from 1947 to 1956, claiming numerous titles including Hampshire leagues Divisions 3, 2 & 1, the Hampshire Intermediate Cup, the Russell Cotes Cup, and the Hampshire Senior Cup. Initially joining the Hampshire League in 1946, Alton Town swiftly ascended, clinching Division 2 title in 1948/49 and Division 1 championship along with the Hampshire Senior Cup in 1957/58. After a stint in the Athenian League Division 2, the club returned to the Hampshire League in 1984, eventually rising to Division 2 title for the third time in 1986/87. Meanwhile, Bass Alton, formerly Courage & Company (Alton) FC, entered the Hampshire League in 1928/29. Despite a hiatus during World War II, the club experienced a resurgence in the 1980s, ascending from Division 4 to Division 1. Post-merger, Alton FC has competed in the Hampshire League, securing promotion to the Wessex League's Premier Division in 2002. Subsequently, the club transitioned to the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division in 2013-14, experiencing various promotions and relegations, including a recent move back to the Combined Counties Premier Division South for the 2022/23 & 2023/24 seasons. ⚽️ Up the brewers!
