About American Porphyria Foundation

For over forty years, we’ve led the way in patient-focused porphyria education and advocacy, becoming the largest porphyria organization in the world. To this day, the APF is guided by our founding principle of "PATIENTS FIRST!" We support national and international research through collaborative partnerships and the guidance of our scientific advisory board. We focus on the needs of our patients, providing educational programming through virtual events, and community through virtual meet-ups and “Porphyria Partners.” We know representation is key in the rare disease community, which is why people directly impacted by porphyria serve on every level of our leadership. We elevate the voices of individuals living with porphyria through communication between our member advisory, staff and board members.
