AMMF is dedicated solely to the challenging primary liver cancer, cholangiocarcinoma. The charity works across the UK and Europe and collaborates globally, raising the awareness of cholangiocarcinoma, providing information to those who need it, and encouraging and supporting specialised research teams in their work to find the causes, methods of earlier diagnosis and treatments for this disease. Considered a rare cancer, an enormous and extremely worrying worldwide increase in the incidence of cholangiocarcinoma has been flagged. In England alone, latest figures (NHS 2020) show over 2,700 people are diagnosed with this disease each year. Fewer than 5% will survive one year from that diagnosis.
