About ANONIMI chamber orchestra

★★★★ “The latest voice in the dialogue about what the future of classical music might look like” – The Arts Desk ANONIMI chamber orchestra, founded in 2023 by cellist and conductor Margarita Balanas, emerges as a pivotal voice in the ever-evolving dialogue surrounding the future of classical music. The orchestra's ethos, eloquently captured by The Arts Desk, emphasizes a steadfast commitment to prioritising the essence of music itself, illuminating ANONIMI's mission deeply rooted in community engagement initiatives that harness the transformative power of music to inspire and connect. This dedication finds expression in their electrifying performances, outreach initiatives and collaborations with contemporary composers. ANONIMI deftly navigates the intricate landscape of orchestral performance, transcending traditional confines to redefine the very essence of musical experience. "Margarita demonstrated fantastic control over the orchestra as she took it from the solemn dissonance of the opening to the expanding sense of meditative serenity. The sound was pristine, austere – you could imagine white light through winter branches, and still glassy lakes – occasionally rising to an elemental roar that proved more than competition for the occasional siren hurtling by outside," concludes The Arts Desk on Arvo Part 'Trisagion’, encapsulating the transcendent experience of an ANONIMI performance. Most recently, ANONIMI were invited as guests on BBC Radio 3 In- Tune. Following ANONIMI's sold-out Inaugural Performance at The Bomb Factory in Marylebone, London, ANONIMI continues to break new ground in the classical music scene.
