About Arete News

Arete News is an independent journalism outlet focused exclusively on the world’s most influential international institutions—where global rules are written, enforced, and contested. We report and analyze developments across the United Nations, European Union, World Health Organization, and specialized bodies governing climate, global health, security, and emerging technologies. Our coverage is grounded in primary documents, institutional processes, and on-the-record reporting. These institutions generate vast amounts of critical data, research, and policy decisions that shape markets, diplomacy, and global risk—but much of this knowledge remains obscured by complexity and access barriers. Arete News exists to make it legible. Our reporting serves public policy professionals, institutional investors, governments, researchers, and civil society leaders who need verifiable facts, procedural clarity, and sober analysis to understand how global governance actually works. The name Arete reflects our approach: In Ancient Greek, arete denotes excellence, knowledge, and virtue—our commitment to rigorous, fact-led journalism. In French, an arête is a sharp, elevated ridge. Founded by journalists with a climber’s mindset, we bring a disciplined, high-ground perspective to complex global systems. By illuminating policy beyond borders, Arete News strengthens accountability and makes the machinery of international cooperation accessible, intelligible, and actionable.
