About Art 19 GmbH
Art 19 is dedicated to raising funds for human rights causes through the sale of works by some of the world’s leading contemporary artists. The name “Art 19” is derived from Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression.” Our inaugural project, “Art 19 Box One,” is a collection of ten limited-edition, signed prints. The managing directors of Art 19 bring together extensive experience across the realms of art and human rights. The team includes Mike Karstens, a gallerist and master printer from Münster; Burkhard Richter, a retired commercial lawyer, art advisor, and curator from Düsseldorf; and Jochen M. Wilms, an entrepreneur and producer of international art projects, including several for Amnesty International, based in Berlin. With deep-rooted connections and expertise in contemporary art, the Art 19 team brings a wealth of experience to the table. Karstens, for example, has collaborated with leading artists for decades, and his editions are featured in major museums worldwide. Notable projects include the development of the Cologne Cathedral Window and the monumental artwork "Strontium," both by Gerhard Richter.
