About ASFADEC - Desparecidxs en Ecuador

The Association of Relatives and Friends of Disappeared Persons in Ecuador (Asfadec) is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 out of the need to unite the efforts of relatives, loved ones, and friends to find the disappeared. In 2014, it obtained legal status under Resolution 0121 from the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion, as part of its work demanding truth, justice, and remembrance in cases of disappeared persons and those found dead. Hundreds of people go missing in Ecuador every year, but there is no real search or investigation by Ecuadorian state agencies to find them.
